Peaceful location
This is a perfect base for exploring the area and wonderful to come back to after a day out as the grounds are large with lovely views all round. It is extremely peaceful but close enough to Le Bugue if you want a coffee or meal out. We were very comfortable in the property as it had everything you could need and the hosts Jackje and David were excellent. Never intrusive but kept in touch and would pass on useful information. We watched some fireworks on the riverbank at Le Bugue which was magical and would have missed if Jackie hadn't sent us a message. Its a stunning area with plenty to do. We took a canoe down the Dordogne, had a day in Sarlat, a boat trip from Roque Gageac, visited Limeul and the beautiful gardens there, the Sunday market at Saint Cyprien js a must, we had sliced ham and potatoes from there and they were delicious for Sunday dinner. The walk along the river to Le Bugue is perfect and everyone is friendly and happy to help if your French isn't great! I would go back happily.

Simply wonderful!
we have had a thoroughly enjoyable week at la gardelle. Our little dog, dexter absolutely loved the huge garden. The property is very well equipped, resulting in us having relaxing evenings at home most evenings....although the short trip into Le Bugue is straightforward and most definitely worth a visit on market day. Jackie & David were both very helpful when we met them upon our arrival at Le Bugue. My only regret for our holiday was that a week wasn’t long enough!

Great holiday home, exactly as advertised
We had a great week at Jackie & David's property. It was exactly as advertised and all of the previous reviews gave an accurate reflection. It is very private and peaceful, and our dog loved having the freedom to roam the huge amount of land (the word 'garden' doesn't accurately reflect it). On the point about dogs, the local vets is only 2 mins away, and when we visited for Duffy's return worming treatment & check, the vet was great & spoke great English. All of the furnishings were of good quality, and it was spotlessly clean. It is a 5 min drive into Le Bugue (I don't think it would be easy to walk, but never tried it) where there are some great shops/restaurants etc. We didn't spend that much time in the town, as out every day exploring the region, and usually too tired to head back out at night, so the barbecue came in very handy. It is a good location for getting to a lot of the main sights & attractions, and Jackie & David provide some good recommendations. The canoeing was great, and I'd recommend a visit to see the Police Horses of Brantome to anybody, and only an hour's drive away. The weather was absolutely scorching when we were there, so I suppose a pool would have been nice, but really didn't take anything away from the holiday. Would have no hesitation in returning to this property, or recommending it to friends & family, which always speaks for itself.

This really is a superb place to stay and in an excellent location. It is very clean and homely.
We had a fantastic holiday at La Gardelle as it is so well equipped and comfortable that you feel so relaxed. We took our dog who loved the large garden which is totally secure and because France is so dog friendly it made our holiday so much easier. Jackie and David were very welcoming and ensured we enjoyed our stay with tips of where to visit and where to eat, all of which were very useful. The surrounding area is very pretty with lots of medieval interesting villages to visit and of course the River Dordogne runs through most of them so a boat trip was a must. The weather was very hot but the house does stay cool which is excellent so if you need to chill this is the place to do it. All in all a wonderful place to stay and we had our best holiday in France.
