The property is situated on a hillside south of Porec and comprises a house with 2 apartments terraced below. It is in a very quiet village some 4km from Porec and 1.5km from the sea. All have sea views and enjoy fantastic sunsets and rural views. Porec itself is a busy tourist town dating from Roman times and enjoys World Heritage status. Istria itself is a peninsula protruding out of the Bay of Trieste and is therefore very near the Italian border and is very Italianate architecturally and in character. The apartments are not far from the sea and many cyclists and walkers stay in the village without a car. However for those who wish to explore further afield - which is well worthwhile - a car is recommended.

Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible as there are so many flights on different days. Morning departure is appreciated to enable cleaning for next guest.
Notes on accommodation
Both apartments are newly decorated and furnished and have not yet been occupied. Both are set into the hillside and, as such, are naturally cool in summer and not exposed. In the five years that I have been there I have not needed a fan however these are readily available if necessary. Loungers, table and chairs are provided for outside use. Linen and towels are provided. However please provide your own towels for beach use.
Accessibility
Access is via a staircase which runs the full length of the property from the top road to the bottom and as such is not suitable for wheelchairs or those with mobility problems. Apartment 1 has steps down from the top road and Apartment 2 has its own steps from the bottom road.
Outside
Loungers, parasols, tables and chairs are provided for outside use as well as electric barbecue/grills.
Coast/Beach
The apartments are approx. 1.5km from the coast which represents a half hour walk or 10 minute drive. The immediate beaches are quite popular with water activities - diving, paragliding, banana and doughnuts for children. The beaches are rocky, usually levelled with concrete and with aluminium ladders for access to water - not all however some coves have shingle - but in either case swimming shoes are recommended for the tender-footed! Further afield one can always find a solitary spot.
Travel
The nearest airport is Pula which is 40km. away. Pula is served by several airlines in the summer: Ryanair and Thomson-fly are the most popular and fly from several UK destinations several times a week. More are coming all the time and the best is to check the Pula airport website which lists all incoming and outgoing flights. Car hire is recommended and again, several companies operate from Pula and are listed on their website.
Distances
The apartments are approx. 4km south of Porec with its numerous restaurants and jazz festival in July which is well worth attending. All along the coast of Istria are fishing villages and marinas (which accommodate somewhat larger vessels!). Pula is 40km away with its Roman amphitheatre home to pop and classical concerts and more restaurants. Inland there are picturesque hilltop fort villages - now artists' retreats and home to truffle dogs!
Further details
The village has a shop for essentials, milk, bread, wine, etc. and there are several well stocked supermarkets in Porec. There are plenty of bancomats, foreign currency exchange bureaux everywhere. For leisure activities please see website.

To book please send an email or telephone. A deposit of 25% is required when booking and the balance 4 weeks before arrival. There is also a tourist tax of 1 euro per day per person payable on arrival.
