Le Coucher du Soleil and Vue du Vallon are two former barns within the grounds of an English owned Charentais Farmhouse now beautifully restored to provide superb Gites for two.
Each Gite has its own private parking and enclosed garden and patio with bbq, table & chairs and sun loungers.
Bikes, Table tennis and of course the 8x4 swimming pool are available for guests to use. Mansle which has shops, markets and restaurants is about 4 miles away.
The area is perfect country for cycling, walking, bird spotting exploring or simply relaxing with a glass of wine in the garden.

As its name suggests, this detached Gite has staggering views from the feature arched window in the beamed lounge and bedroom. A beautiful pine spiral staircase leads to a galleried bedroom which features a large pine bed and a ensuite toilet. The kitchen is fitted and has a washing machine, microwave, cooker and fridge, plus all the equipment you would expect. |

Notes on accommodation
Each Gite is equipped with a wood burning stove,wall mounted electric heater, TV/video/DVD , CD player/radio, books, videos, DVD's and games. The Gites are for two people only.
Towels (not beach towels), linen and service costs eg. electric, water and gas are included.
The Gites are not suitable for children, babies only -sorry.
Outside
Outside you'll find a patio table and chairs, barbeque and sun loungers. There is also a 8x4m swimming pool with Roman steps and security fence which guests are welcome to use. Each Gite has its own private patio. There are also ladies and gents bikes available and table tennis. Please note the swimming pool is open May to September.
Coast/Beach
The Atlantic coast with its truly magnificent beaches is just over an hour drive away with La Rochelle perhaps being the most well known town.
Golf
There are golf courses near Angouleme and Cognac.

Travel
The nearest airports are at Angouleme, Poitiers and Limoges. Ryanair fly there from Stansted. Angouleme is about 25minutes drive and the other airports are about 60mins drive to the Gites. The best seaport is St. Malo. It is about 4 hours drive via Rennes, Nantes and Niort. A car is essential.
Distances
For the adventurous there is canoeing at Mansle, (approx 3 miles).
Angouleme with its beautiful architecture, famous annual comic strip festival and vintage car race is only 25 mins drive.
Cognac with its historic distillery houses and Blues Festival (held at the end of July) is about 40 mins drive.
Ruffec is about 20 mins drive.
Further details
There are supermarkets, boulangeries, banks and daily markets selling wonderful produce at Mansle, Ruffec and Angouleme.
There are some superb restaurants to cater for all tastes and budgets - all within an easy drive.
Booking notes
In the first instance contact the owner. You will be sent a booking form via e-mail or post, complete and return the form together with a 10% deposit. The balance is payable 8 weeks prior to rental period. Payments are accepted electronicaly in Sterling or by cheque.
