Each property is fully equipped with tiled floors and French patio doors opening onto private and enclosed gardens all with their own BBQ. Within the complex we have badminton, volleyball, table tennis and petanque, with swings for the children, or if you prefer to just lay in the warm sun by the enclosed 10x5m swimming pool and enjoy a relaxing break. Soak up the rich history and visit the castle at Gencay, the abbey and museum at Charroux and the wealth of Romanesque churches nearby. Civray is less than 3km away, boasting a magnificent church, and a variety of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, to be enjoyed in traditional French style. Many other delightful and reasonably priced restaurants are an easy drive away. For those wishing to BBQ, or prepare their own cuisine, there is a large supermarket nearby. A daily boulangerie van visits and there is a supply of fresh eggs from the resident chickens! The ‘Monkey Valley’ is 15 minutes away. Futuroscope is just 45 minutes

Very roomy this large independent cottage is across the courtyard. Bedroom 1 with a double bed, en-suite with shower, WC and wash basin. Bedroom 2 with two x single beds and share a separate large shower room across the landing. Bedroom 3 with two x single beds and share a separate large shower room across the landing. Large fully equipped dining kitchen with gas cooker, automatic washing machine, fridge freezer/ microwave oven and all necessary crockery and cutlery, in the centre stands a large dining table seating 6 people. The open plan bright living room, boasts a grand wood-burning stove, 1 x 3 seater settee and a 2 seater settee. All sharing a TV and CD/radio player and DVD. Again it has its own garden and BBQ area. |

Notes on accommodation
We are happy to provide baby baths/cot and high chair with prior notification. In addition we can offer a welcome pack of food and drink for your arrival after your long journey, prices available upon request.
Accessibility
The one bedroom cottage is all on 1 level and may be suitable for guests who have mobility problems.
Outside
The complex is set over 3.5 acres of rolling countryside and is fully enclosed by large front iron gates. Although we enjoy the landscape we are by no means isolated, situated within a small hamlet and next door to the resident farmer. We are easily accessed from the main road giving us the benefit of being in a prime location to visit all the local and nearby attractions. Each cottage has its very own private garden and shares the 10m x 5m enclosed swimming pool.
Coast/Beach
The route to La Rochelle, famous coastal town is approx 2 hours, here you will find beautiful shops, plenty of restaurants/cafe bars offering local delicacies, where its a must that you try out their 'Moules Frites' delicious!
Golf
La Manoir de Beauvoir golf course and its superb hotel just outside Poitier. The 18 hole Golf Course of Manoir De Beauvoir attracts golfers from all over France and Europe, but also is host to federal tournaments and other well renowned clientele such as Canal and Le Club Med etc. Take a look at their web site link shown on our attractions page.
Travel
Travelling from St Malo port, approx 4 - 5 hours. 45 minutes from Poitier airport and 1 hour 15 mins from Limoges airport. Car hire is available at both airports Hertz, Europcar and Avis.
Distances
We are situated on the main road to the market town of Ruffec just 15 mins drive and a bike ride of 2/3km from our small village Civray. Angouleme to the south is just 35 min away, and Limoges 1 hour 30 mins drive. Poitier with the fantastic futuroscope must be seen just 45 minutes away. with the Monkey Valley on the doorstep.
Further details
The Vienne is a beautiful sunflower region, offering plenty of local markets throughout the week.We have a supermarket at the top of the road (you can walk if you feel energetic). Outdoor swimming pool in Civray, riverside walks along the Charente, delicious patisseries and the smell of freshly baked baguettes are all situated around the small square that hosts a 12 century church.
Booking notes
We would require a non refundable deposit of £100 per week per gite to hold the date of the booking. The balance payable 8 weeks prior to departure.
