La Vitaille is set in the glorious rolling countryside of the Lot et Garonne and on the border of the Dordogne Region. Set in a small hamlet, La Vitaille is situated between the villages of Seyches and Allemans-du-Dropt. It is also near the pretty towns of Duras and Eymet both 15 minutes drive. Bergerac airport is a 40 minute drive. The closest bars, restaurants, boulangeries etc are all a short drive away. La Vitaille is a perfect base for visiting the local vineyards and chateaux of St Emilion, Monbazillac and Bordeaux. The local area comes alive in the summer months with night markets, wine fairs, brocante and antique fairs. The large house is comfortable and extremely well equipped with everything you require for a relaxing holiday. It is ideal for large family groups and easily accommodates 14 people. The pool, huge garden and the games room in the cellar make it a perfect place for children of all ages. We can provide a cot and high chair if required.

Kitchen: The kitchen has a large fireplace with log-burning stove, exposed stone walls and original terracotta tiled floor. Gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, toaster. Large oak table for family meals.
Utility Room: Laundry room is well equipped with washing machine, dryer, iron, ironing board and cleaning equipment.
Living Rooms: The large living room has 2 sofas, fireplace with a log-burning stove, and has views of the pool, garden and countryside. Satellite TV, CD and DVD player. Upstairs the high-beamed mezzanine landing is furnished with further comfy sofa, chairs and TV.
Other: There is an enormous cellar containing a bar, table tennis table and table football. You will also find a selection of footballs, bats and balls and a badminton set.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
The property is thoroughly cleaned before each new guest arrives. Linen and bath towels are included. Please provide your own pool towels. A welcome pack is provided. Change of bed linen/towels and cleaning is available for an extra charge.

 

Notes on accommodation
The house is centrally heated and has log-burning stoves. With its thick stone walls, the house remains cool in the summer.

Accessibility
There are bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor and there are no steps into the property. However, the pool is accessed via a short flight of stone steps from the raised terrace.

Outside
On the raised terrace outside there is a barbeque and tables and chairs. The front terrace is covered and is a great shady spot for lunch. The side terrace is open and benefits from the morning sun. Down the stone steps from the terrace there is the private (12x5m) swimming pool with paved terracing all around, sun loungers and parasols. The pool is in an elevated position with open views across the countryside. The pool is enclosed with safety fencing in accordance with French legal requirements. Down further steps from the pool is a large expanse of grassed garden, which has swings and is a great recreational area for children.

Coast/Beach
The beautiful beaches of Arcachon are about one and a half hours drive from Vitaille and well worth a day trip.

Golf
There is a very good 18 hole golf course about 35 mins away from us at the Chateau des Vigiers golf and country club. Vigiers also has a superb restaurant. There are several other courses in the local area.

Travel
Bergerac airport 40 min drive. Bordeaux airport 90 min drive.
Channel ports 8-10 hour drive. A car is essential. Car hire is available at both airports.

Distances
The Dordogne valley, with its many chateaux and pretty villages such as La Roque-Gageac, Beynac and Domme, is a 40 min drive. The beautiful city of Bordeaux is a 90 min drive and makes a fantastic day out for shopping or culture or both! Duras and Eymet, both lovely market towns with bars, shops, restaurants and banks are a 15 min drive. Issigeac, a charming medieval village, is a 35 min drive and its Sunday market is a must. St Emilion is less than an hour and well worth a visit.

Further details
There are large supermarkets found locally in Miramont 15 mins and Marmande 20 mins. The local Boulangerie at Escassefort is a 5 min drive. There is a great butcher, boulangerie, small store, pizza bar, tabac, petrol station and restaurant in Seyches which is our local village 8 mins. Canoeing is available on the Dordogne and also at the nearby village of Allemans-du-Dropt.

Booking notes
A 25 % non-refundable deposit is required to secure the booking with final balance due 8 weeks before arrival. A (refundable) security breakage deposit of £300 is required with final balance. This will be returned immediately after departure inspection subject to any damage or breakages.
