The cottage, possibly a former seigneur's house, is made from huge blocks of dressed stone and is full of character, including open fireplaces and a stone spiral staircase. It is set in a hamlet 3 mins from the village of Lanvénegen, with a bakery, Post Office, shop and bar and 10 minutes from the market town of Le Faouet which has good range of shops, bars and restaurants as well as a supermarket. It is set in beautiful countryside within easy reach of the coast.

Bedroom 2: large room with 2 double beds.
Attic bedroom with 2 single beds and a futon. This would be ideal for children - has small TV/DVD player.
Bathrooms: Bathroom on 1st floor with bath/shower over, WC and washing machine.
Kitchen: Fully equipped corner kitchen in open plan living room. Gas hob and oven, fridge and microwave.
Living Rooms: One large open plan living room with huge exposed beams and stone walls. Large open working fireplace and stone spiral staircase. Seating area with 2 sofas and TV/DVD (French TV only). Large dining table seating 6/8. CD player/radio.
Cleaning/towels/

Duvets and pillows provided. Towels and linen are available at an extra charge. The property will be cleaned between each let.

 

Notes on accommodation
The property has electric heating in all rooms, except the attic which is heated by an electric blow heater. Firewood is provided. The spiral stone staircase may make the property unsuitable for toddlers. Please note that the outside space is not enclosed, although the cottage is in a hamlet that has no through roads and practically no traffic! Due to its location the property would be ideal for walkers and anyone seeking a tranquil setting.
You are welcome to bring a games consol, games and DVDs to use with the TV in the attic.

Outside
To the front of the property is a small, south-east facing unfenced grass area, ideal for BBQ's and sun-bathing. To the side of the property there a small wooded area. Patio furniture, including sunbeds and a BBQ is provided.

Coast/Beach
The cottage is 20 miles from the sandy beaches of Le Pouldu, which also has a pretty port. There is a more sophisticated resort at Lamour Plage with bars and restaurants which is about 45 mins drive. There are many more lovely beaches within easy reach.

Travel
The cottage is 90 mins from Roscoff and about 4 hours from Cherbourg. Calais is about a 7 hour drive. Flights are available to Brest which is about 90 mins away. Due to rural location, a car is recommended.

Distances
Le Faouët, with its 16th century market hall and 15th century chapels of St Barbe and St Fiacre is a 10 min drive away. The pretty town of Quimperlé is about 20 mins away and the larger town of Lorient is about 40 mins away. Vannes, Quimper and Brest are all within easy reach.

Further details
The village of Lanvénegen has a bakery, bar and tabac and basic shop. Le Faouët has a large supermarket as well as a good range of smaller shops, including a pharmacy. There are several bars, creperies, pizzarias and restaurants surrounding the market square. Larger hypermarkets can be found at Quimperlé and Lorient. The area is criss-crossed with rivers and forests, with many marked walks - some straight from the door. Fishing is available at local lakes and in the area's rivers. Other activities include tennis, canoeing and horse riding. There are endless places to visit in the area including the artists' town of Pont Aven and the walled town of Concarneau. Breton festivals abound throughout the summer months. For children there are several animal parks and a zoo at Pont Scorff. An evening meal service is available during the Autumn season.

Booking notes
Please contact the owners for availability. A 25% deposit is required on booking, with the balance due 6 weeks before commencement of the holiday. A security deposit of £75 is also required.
