This apartment is located in the heart of the old town of Penne, with great views. It gives the impression of being in the countryside, as you stand on the large terrace overlooking vegetable gardens, and rolling patchwork hills to the sea. At the same time you're in the heart of this antique city, which as well as having all the facilities you would hope for to make your stay comfortable, gives you the taste of 'real Italy'. The local people are very friendly and welcoming. Their cuisine, and cultural festivals are enough alone to make any stay special. Not to miss is 'The Legends Of Penne' Old Town Tour in English, which gives you a real flavour of the life in the medieval times in this terracotta town. You may take a organized walk from 'abruzzo walks', in the spectacular mountains which include mainland Abruzzo's highest peak, the Corno Grande. Only 1/2 an hour's drive away are the wonderful sandy beaches of the Adriatic, and Penne is central for touring all of Italy incuding Rome.

Abruzzo is a region in central Italy, east of Rome. Flanked by the Adriatic coast, consisting of endless stretches of beach whose sands are considered amongst the best in Italy. Until 1963 it was part of the Abruzzi region with Molise. Its territory is mountainous with hilly patchwork countryside. The Apennine mountains run through Abruzzo, having the highest peaks on mainland Italy; Corno Grande 2914m (Gran Sasso National Park), Monte Amaro 2795m (Majella National Park). Here can be found Europe’s southernmost glacier, Il Calderone. Abruzzo has shown the highest per capital growth in GDP and education levels, surpassing every other region in the south and much of Italy. The number of Italian and European tourists has increased in the area, this in part can be attributed to it's wealth of castles and medieval towns. The region has 21 ski areas all within a few hours of Rome. Abruzzo also is popular for cross country skiing, especially on the high plain of Campo Imperatore in the Gran Sasso. At the foot of the Gran Sasso lies Castelli where artisans have produced ceramics for most of the European royalty. The name Penne means pens, and refers to the 4 hills that rise up to form the town. Penne commanded an area that ran from Vasto in the south to Teramo in the north. However it's origins go back far before that. Penne - a little city older than Rome!
