The deep blue Adriatic is defined by the rolling hills topped by the many and varied medieval hill-towns of the south-eastern Marche. The house, gardens, and pool provide ample space for living, playing or soaking up the rays. Special reduced rates September 2008 - Down from £1500 to only £990 for remaining weeks. Discounts may be available for shorter lets, long weekends or winter lets. Please contact us with your requirements. We offer a 10% discount on second/third weeks for off season lets.
Changeover day
Normally changeovers are on a Sunday to take advantage of cheaper flights but it may be possible to make alternative arrangements. Contact us with your suggestions.

| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
House towels and bed linen are included. For guests staying longer than a week the house can be cleaned after the end of each week and the bed linen can be changed after a week (price on application). |
Notes on accommodation
Casa Bella Fonte has been lovingly restored and offers spacious accommodation, perfect for those who are looking for a facility that can accommodate an extended family or groups of friends or families. The villa is secluded but not isolated and offers fantastic views yet is only 2 mins drive or a short walk from Montalto. The amenities in town provide all you will need during your stay. We are attempting to make the house as environmentally low impact as possible. We have two solar water heaters to supplement an immersion tank. Our toilets are the normal flushing type but toilet waste is treated in an ecological composting system imported from Sweden - the first in Italy. Recycling bins are provided including a compost bin for waste foodstuffs. We can’t produce our own electricity yet be we are looking in to it. Wood burners provide carbon neutral heating. Outside
The spacious patios around the house provide ample space for eating outside. The patio is accessed directly from the kitchen and rear doors and is shaded with a tiled roof. There is a lounge area to the south of the pool for relaxation after your swim, sunbathing or relaxing with a page turner. The 10x6m pool has 2 inbuilt sets of stairs and dramatic lighting for your evening dip. We have pool loungers and wooden outdoor seating and tables for alfresco dining. The pool shower room is built onto the side of the house, the timber framed design, bamboo screens and flourishing plants provide an exotic setting for your pre and post swim showers. Large lawns surround the house on three sides and lead to huge tracts of unspoilt lands where a wide variety of wildlife flourish including deer, badgers, red (black) squirrels, polecats, geckos, frogs, toads, foxes, a range of native and migratory birds including buzzards, falcons and eagles and magical spring evenings illuminated by fireflies.
Coast/Beach
The pleasant town of Grottammare offers the rare luxury of a free beach in an Italian seaside town just 25 minutes drive from the house. The free beach is surrounded by palm trees with free showers and a drinking fountain within easy walk of the town center. The beach is clean and sandy, the sea is safe and warm and shallow and sandy underfoot. A short walk takes you to the center of town. There are many other free beaches and plenty of private ones up and down this stretch of the Adriatic.
Golf
The Conero Golf Club is located at 5 minutes from the center of Sirolo, along the direction of the Autostrada A14 around 75 mins drive. The club has two paths. The 18 championship holes (a par 72 5.969mt long), and a wide zone at the bottom of a valley -with water obstacles and differences in height, create the perfect scenario for situations always different. The second path 'Executive' (9 holes par 29 1.408mt long), is ideal both for the newbees and those who want to perfect the short game. For practicing, the driving range with partially covered positions and a wide putting green.
Skiing
There are a number of ski resorts in the Sibillini mountains. The nearest is around 40 minutes from the house.
Special interest holidays
From spring 2009 we will be offering fully catered long-weekend and 7 - 14 day lets. Holidays will include airport transfers, all meals including restaurant dinners, tours to local places of interest (groups of up to 8) in fact we can arrange everything other than the flights for you (and for a small booking fee we will even do this). We can also include photography and drawing tours with expert tuition and possibly guided mountain walking. Travel
Flying to Ancona or Pescara airports via Ryanair from Stanstead airport - and now Liverpool to Ancona - are the fastest– and almost certainly the cheapest – routes. Currently there is one early morning flight a day to both Ancona and Pescara from Stanstead and 3 flights a week from Liverpool. Montalto is pretty much half way between these two airports and travel time by motorway is around 1 hour 20 minutes from either. Rome and Bolonga are both around 3 hours drive from the house.
Distances
A short walk or 2 minute drive from the house brings you to the town of Montalto. Montalto is the ideal holiday destination for travelers to the Marche offering as it does a taste of real Italy. 25 minutes from the Adriatic beaches to the east and 35 minutes to the Sibillini mountains to the west, with the cities of Ascoli Picena 30 minutes to the south and Macerata 45 minutes to the north and plenty more towns in between, the situation is ideal for those wishing to explore the region.
Further details
The cathedral of Montalto delle Marche was built by Pope Sisto V. It is one of a number of majestic religious and historic buildings in the area. Almost every town has at least one outstanding feature and the regeneration of the region over the last ten years or so has seen a sensitive restoration of many town and their treasures to their former glory. If you are house hunting we can offer guests the benefit of our experience, we have bought two very different houses in the region over the last few years and would be pleased to give free advice to those booking the house.
Most general supplies can be brought locally, though slightly more expensive than the large superstores you will not have to spend hours or pay petrol money getting there, you will be supporting the local economy, the food is fresher and you will see friendly faces. In Montalto you will find, Greengrocer, Small supermarket, 4 bars, post office, chemist, take-away pizza, gift shop, art goods, maps and postcard shop, fresh pasta shop, pastry shop, hardware store, 2 butchers (cheese), fish shop (fresh and frozen), antiques, boutique, opticians, Bank, museum, ATM, Petrol station, Garage, there is a very good supermarket in Patrongone (5 mins). The Quarto Vento pizzeria in Montalto (closed Monday) is our favourite local restaurant. It is very good for pizza (evenings only) and pasta and sometimes serves grilled meats, If you book you should be able to order a wonderful Friday fish lunch. There are a number of other restaurants nearby, Montalto: Bar Sisto V has a small restaurant. Montedinove: The hotel el Duca has a good restaurant with a fine fish dish. Rocco: (10 mins) has a agrotousismo restaurant open at the weekends in the summer good lunches and evening meals, garden and terrace. Patrignone: (5 mins) has a pizzeria and agrotouismo – “due pine”. Ortezzano: (15 mins) three restaurants. There are plenty more eating places nearby please see the information in the house.
Booking notes
We require a deposit of 25% of the rent on booking and the remainder within 8 weeks of the start date of the letting. There is a £300 breakage and cleaning deposit payable on booking.
