'Cerro das Ondas' is an old country house which has been newly restored to a high specification. Throughout, the decor is a simple and tasteful blend of rustic and modern. The property comprises the main house of 160m2 with a/c throughout and a further cottage of 96m2, both sleeping four. It is a very spacious property which is ideal for 'get-togethers' of family or friends. It has a large private pool of 10m x 4m. The house lies in countryside 6km north of the charming town of Moncarapacho and 12km north of the fabulous white sand beaches of Fuzeta. There is acres of space around the house in which to play, park and explore - a world all to itself.

Kitchen: The spacious modern kitchen is in the house and is fully equipped for self-catering: 4-ring gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster, coffee maker. Washing machine.
Living Rooms: House: huge lounge of 48 m2 with three leather sofas, satellite TV, table and chairs for 10 people, a/c. Open fire for winter.
Cottage: has a spacious two-level living area with sofa.
Other: Two extra single bads can be made up in the cottage lounge area.
House: dining room with table and chairs for 10 people.
Cottage: the old baking room has table and benches and still the old brick bread oven.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
All bed linen and towels for use inside the house are included and changed once per week. The house is cleaned once per week.

 

Notes on accommodation
The main house has air-conditioning throughout in summer, which doubles as warm-air heating in winter.
Both house and cottage are all on ground level and far from the main road so are very safe for children and accessible for older guests.

Outside
The main house has a huge (80m2) roof terrace with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside - wonderful at night in the summer, during the day in winter. The pool (10x4m) is private. The pool terrace is equipped with table and seating, shade area and sun areas with loungers. There is a barbeque. There is a shaded terrace with bench-table outside the kitchen. The house stands in grounds of over 5000m2, with mature Olive, Carob and Fig trees, and newly planted citrus trees. There is lots of space to run about, for games, to park cars and to provide both privacy and quiet.

Coast/Beach
A 10 minute drive will bring you to the coastal town of Fuzeta, lying within the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. There is a small beach on the lagoon in the town itself. Take the small ferry across the lagoon (five minutes) and you reach the miles and miles of sand, sun and sea of Isla de Armona. There is a restaurant and facilities where you land. The beach has white sand, clean warm water, and is backed by dunes - one of the very best in Europe. Most of the beach is empty even in peak season.

Further details
The nearest town is Moncarapacho (ten minutes drive), a charming small town with all the basics: 2 good small supermarkets, market, restaurants, bank, fuel, post office, newspapers and plenty of cafe's.
The large coastal town of Olhão is 20 minutes drive away - a paradise for lovers of fish and sea food. Tavira - the cultural and historic town at the centre of the Eastern Algarve - is also just 20 minutes drive away.

Booking notes
In July and August, the house and cottage can only be booked as a single property (sleeps 9). From October - April, the main house can be booked on its own (sleeps 4). Booking is via email. For bookings made more than 2 months before the date of arrival, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking, with the remaing 70% payable 2 months prior to arrival. For bookings made less than 2 months before the date of arrival, full payment is required at the time of booking.

What a wonderful place. We’ve loved the beaches, the villages and the countryside, but nothing has surpassed the lazy mornings and leisurely afternoons, cooling off playing games in the pool. The long candle lit suppers and laughter around the pool side table; watching shooting stars from the roof terrace on moon-less nights. The day long heat, finding refuge in shady rooms, the country side sounds, the cloudless skies, the solitude – that all make up Cerro das Ondas.
