Our tranquil villa is situated about 35 mins drive by car from Faro airport and stands in its own grounds and faces south overlooking orange groves towards the Atlantic Ocean. To the west and north are panoramic views to the mountains. Within 5 mins drive is the pretty village of Santo Estevao which has a restaurant, bars and supermarkets etc. The beautiful old historic town of Tavira is about 10 mins away and offers plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars where you can rest your weary feet and people watch by the river Gilao after admiring all the churches and architecture that Tavira can offer. You can also get the ferry in Tavira to the island and enjoy one of the Algarve’s long expanses of sandy beaches or catch the train and enjoy Faro and the rest of the Algarve without the hassle of driving. There are 3 good golf courses just outside of Tavira and if you want to cross over the bridge into Spain for more golf this will take you about 40 mins.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday (negotiable off season). Arrival by 4pm (negotiable). Departure by 10am.
Accommodation

Outside
The swimming pool is 15 x 6m and is 3.5m at the deep end and 1m at the shallow end. There is also an outside covered eating area with built-in BBQ, patio tables and chairs, sun loungers and parasols.
Coast/Beach
10 mins from the villa are the golden beaches on the Ilha of Tavira. But before you get there you must cross the Rio Formosa, which is a conservation area of special scientific interest. You can either catch the ferry from the quay in Tavira or cross to Barril by either walking or taking the minature train from Santa Luzia. 15 mins from the villa is the Ilha of Cabanas and 20 minutes is Manta Rota where the sand reef meets the mainland. All beaches have the blue flag.
Golf
There are 4 golf courses within 20 mins drive of the villa. Colina Verde, Maragota, near Luz de Tavira. Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima (all 18 hole) are all off the N125 just outside of Tavira. If you travel further east to Casto Marim there is another 18 hole course. If you feel like popping across the bridge into Spain you will find more courses.
Travel
Faro Airport and town 35 mins. Tavira train and bus station 10 mins. Lisbon 3 hours. Seville airport 2 hours. Santander Ferry Port, Spain 11 hours. All times are approximate.
Distances
Nearest bar/shop 100m. 2kms to Santo Estaveo. 5kms to Tavira. 8kms to Santa Luzia. 8kms to the Waterfalls in the Asseca valley. 30kms to Faro. The whole length of the Algarve has something of interest for everybody.
Further details
The mini-mercado/bar which is close to the villa has everything to get by. In Santo Estaveo there are 2 mini-mercados, chemist, hairdressers, cash machine, bars (one of which also runs the local taxi service) and restaurant. Tavira being a town has larger shops and a very large fresh fish and vegetable market everyday except Sunday. Here you can also find plenty of good restaurants and bars. Santa Luzia being the capital for octopus and other seafood is the place to be if you enjoy the food of the sea.
