The villa is set on the edge of orange groves with sensational panoramic views to the South overlooking the Amondeira Golf courses (due to open in 2008) and the sea beyond on the horizon. To the north are the Monchique Mountains which can be seen from our roof terrace; the historic Moorish town of Silves is approx 10km away with its ancient castle and cathedral and traditional cafes and restaurants. In Algoz, (approx 6km away) there is also a good selection of shops and a daily fresh food market. There are many tourist attractions including, wonderful sandy beaches, golf courses, water slide parks, a Zoo Marine with its varied wild life including opportunities to swim with the Dolphins, and a modern shopping complex with a 9 screen cinema, 10-pin bowling and food hall, all within a 15 minutes drive. From the Vila there are interesting country walks through the orange groves and farms of the local Portuguese.

Outside
Private kidney-shaped pool 9mx4.2mx1.5m (Max); shaded Roof terrace equipped with table/chairs /lights - ideal for wining/dining and watching magnificent sunsets and surrounding countryside including views to the Monchique mountains. Garden with Palms, fruit trees, honeysuckle, Jasmine, Oleanders, hibiscus and many other plants trees and shrubs. Passion-flower shaded terrace by the barbecue with seats and table. Open terrace surrounding the Pool with several coloured parasols/recliners and sunbeds. Large Carob tree offering shade at one end. North West terrace with picnic table under lemon tree and table tennis table available. Main terrace outside living room with table and chairs for al fresco eating also with fantastic views.
Coast/Beach
Armacao de Pera is the nearest coastal resort with beautiful sandy beaches just 15 minutes (approx) car drive away with cafes, bars shops and restaurants serving fresh locally caught fish. Boat hire for cave and grotto visits are available. The Praia Grande beach and Nature reserve, next to Armacao de Pera, has natural Lagoon and marshes where Flamingos and other water fowl can be spotted. Many attractive coves/beaches within easy access from Vila- parasols, cold boxes are available at Vila.
Golf
At the moment the nearest golf course is Pestana which is approx 8 mins drive. Salgados is near Armacao de Pera and is approx 20 mins drive. There are also excellent courses nearby at Carvoreiro approx 25mins drive away. Opening in 2008 there are 2 championship courses designed by Nick Faldo and Christy O'Connor at Amondeira which is in the valley below the Villa.
Travel
Faro airport is approx. 40mins drive via the A22 Motorway. Lisbon airport is approx 2hrs 30mins away by Motorway. Both airports served by scheduled and budget airlines. Car is essential and can be easily arranged for collection at the airports.
Distances
The historic Moorish town of Silves is approx 15 mins drive. Cap St Vincent and the West Coast beaches are approx 1¼ hour drive via motorway and Monchique mountain range is approx 1 hour drive through scenic cork and eucalyptus plantations. Local mini-market for basic items situated at Alcantarilha Gare approx 1km away. Local cafes and restaurants approx 1-2 km away. Local good train service at low cost to Faro and Lagos the station is approx 1km from Vila.
Further details
There are numerous banks and automated cash machines available throughout the region the nearest being Algoz village 6km away. This village also has a filling station, pharmacy, daily fresh food market, Post Office and a selection of reasonably priced restaurants serving pizzas, pasta, piri-piri chicken and local meat and fish dishes.

Bookings are accepted by telephone, post or e-mail. Payments should be made to: Diana Banks by cheque. A deposit of £150 Per week required on booking and balance due 8 weeks before commencement of Holiday.
