Wonderfully positioned within a delightfully landscaped garden complex, enabling you to relax by one of the six outdoor swimming pools or to play a round of golf on the complex’s nine hole course. Facilities also include a golf driving range and splendid club house, putting green and practice bunker green, a Health club with a heated indoor pool, gym, steam room and jacuzzi, four outdoor tennis courts. The complex has a restaurant and small shopping terrace. The complex is open throughout the whole year offering facilities whatever your age.

Changeover day
Flexible, cheaper flights are midweek. Arrival check in is after midday and departure check out is 10am. This may be relaxed if no-one is due in on the same day.

Notes on accommodation
All water and electricity is included, the patios have garden furniture, chairs and a table with a sun umbrella and sun loungers provided. Seating for 6 people. Barbecues are permitted. Pets are not permitted. Perfect for small children as this ground floor patio extends onto large lawned area.

Beach towels are not included.
Outside
Luxuriant gardens and vegetation. Outside living is catered for, barbecues are allowed. The Village has 6 pools, Golf, Tennis, Croquet, Petanque, Table tennis, children's play area - a Kids Club in high/peak seasons. The Health Club provides heated pool, jacuzzi, steam room and gym. There is a shopping terrace with mini-market, newsagents, hairdresser and beautician.
Coast/Beach
Balaia is situated near the coast with a host of sandy beaches and attractive coastal walks. The Club Med complex is opposite the main entrance to the Village. The apartment is just a 15 minutes stroll down to the Marie Luisa beach past the Club Med. The beach has bar facilities and good food. (particularly fish). Marie Luisa is not really suitable for those with mobility problems; Olhos d'Agua, a traditional fishing village where fishermen still tend their nets is close by.
Golf
Balaia has a nine hole golf course and splendid club house. There are many highly regarded golf courses within less than 30 minutes drive, particularly the championship courses at Vilamoura and Vila Sol. Golf excursions may be arranged via Balaia.
Balaia's 9 hole executive par-3 course with Clubhouse and shop totals 984m. Driving Range, Putting green, lessons, hire of clubs etc. Some of the finest championship golf courses are within a 10/20 minute drive. 'Proper' shoes/dress are required for the 9-hole golf course, handicap Certificate not 'always' essential.
Travel
Paradise Tours offer meet and greet at the airport. They charge about 50 euros for a return trip for 4 people. They wait at the arrivals with your name on a board and can be relied upon even of your flight is delayed. Car hire is not essential but useful and can be booked either in advance or with reception after arrival.
Faro airport is 35km west and approx 30 mins drive away. A shuttle bus from reception goes to Albufeira and Vilamoura. Local-bus stop outside the main Balaia entrance.
Further details
Balaia reception is open 24 hours a day and the staff speak good English and are able to answer most questions for you, book excursions, car hire or taxis, plus golf course visits and a range of other services.
There is a 24 hour Reception and Security service; Safety Deposit boxes can be hired at Reception (we strongly recommend Guests to use these for all monies/valuables, etc) - we cannot be held responsible for any accidents, losses, personal or otherwise. There is a terrace next to the main entrance offering a mini-market, newsagents etc; other local shops, restaurants are all within easy walking distance. Vilamoura Marina, deep-sea fishing, etc. is only a short drive or bus ride away as is the new Albufeira Marina.
Balaia is ideally positioned for short excursions to the fishing beach at Olhos de Agua and into old Albufeira town, or for excursions along the attractive Algarve coast to Lagos, Loule, Portimao, or Vilamoura with it’s attractive marina and surrounding golf courses. Also within easy reach are water-parks and a Zoomarine-park, both popular with children. To round off your visit, the Algarve Shopping Mall on the N125 provides a selection of fine shops in a very Portuguese style including a multi-screen cinema and ten pin bowling.
Booking notes
A deposit of 25% is normally requested upon booking with the balance of the fee payable eight weeks prior to departure. Extended letting periods, particularly out of the main summer season are welcome e.g. one month or longer. These maybe subject to some negotiation based upon the rates quoted. Additional services, are available at an extra cost upon request, such as: a welcome food pack, additional linen and cleaning, hire of a baby cot or high chair and airport transfer in Portugal.
