Changeover day
Changeover days are flexible. Check in not normally before 2pm. Checkout by 10am to allow for apartment preparation for incoming guests however this can be flexible with prior arrangement with the owner and subject to apartment availability.

Notes on accommodation
The accommodation is available to rent all year round with room and ceiling fans for the summer and heaters for the cooler seasons. New for early 2009 bedrooms and living area will have air conditioning. Please no smoking inside the apartment however you are welcome to smoke on the terrace. Maid and linen services are provided weekly. Beach towels are not provided you will need to bring your own.

Outside
Landscaped gardens with pine, cork and almond trees. Patio chairs and table for 6. 2 sun loungers and umbrella. Use of 6x shared swimming pools with children’s pools. Main pool less than a mins walk from the apartment, heated out of main season. Local supermarkets and newspapers closeby.
Coast/Beach
Maria Luisa and Santa Eulalia beaches are close by within 5 mins walking distance. Balaia is ideally positioned for short explorations to the fishing beach at Olho's de Agua and into old Albufeira town.
Golf
Balaia Golf Village has its own award winning, testing, executive 9 hole course, with distances ranging from 67 - 160m. You must wear proper golf shoes fitted with soft spikes to play this course. There is no handicap requirement. There is a driving range, practice bunker, chipping and putting greens. An impressive club house with a large terrace overlooks the first tee, has a restaurant, reception, pro shop, club hire, trolley and lockers. Golfing lessons in a group or individually is available. There are several international standard courses within 15km of the village. Again you must wear proper golf shoes fitted with soft spikes to play these courses. They all have handicap requirements, generally (but not universally) 28 for men and 36 for ladies and you must present your authorised handicap cards. Tee off times for Balaia and other courses can be arranged through reception at reduced rates for guests.
Travel
Faro airport is less than 30km away approx 20 mins by car or taxi. Car hire is not essential the local bus service runs past the complex. Travel to Lagos, Loule, Portimao, or Vilamoura with its attractive marina and surrounding golf courses. Also within easy reach are water-parks and a Zoo marine-park, both popular with children. To round off your visit, the Algarve Shopping Mall on the N125 provides a selection of fine shops in a very Portuguese style.
Distances
Albufeira is a 5 min car ride or a 20 min walk away and is full of things to do, with plenty of restaurants, bars entertainment and shops. There are several local restaurants, very reasonably priced, within a few mins walking distance of Balaia, offering a variety of menus, in particular, traditional Portuguese fish dishes. There are several small supermarkets nearby for day-to-day needs.
Further details
There is on site management and security along with an excellent 24 hour reception, where you can change money, book taxis, book airport transfers, arrange baby sitting, hire cots etc. You will find them always most helpful. Reception also has an internet facility and wireless network access for guests.
Booking notes
Contact the owner for availability. A deposit of 20% of the total cost is required upon booking or the full balance of the account if less than 8 weeks to departure. Any balance is due no later than 8 weeks before the apartment rental period or the booking may be lost. Prices quoted include water, electricity, linen and maid service once per full week. Payment accepted in UK pounds or Euros by BACS.

Finally back from Portugal, Algarve - we had a fantastic holiday and were totally graced by the incredible weather. The apartment was excellent - we had everything we needed and the location was, as always, fantastic. We found the ground level absolutely perfect for the kids – waking up in the morning was truly very much easier... We really did love Balaia Golf Village and we're obviously hopeful to go back again.
