The Villa has an outside covered terrace at the front of the property, which has countryside views over farmland and the 2 new Amendoeira championship golf courses (now open for play), leading to a private pool & sunbathing terrace, built-in BBQ, all within the mature walled garden, with trees and shrubs from the Mediterranean region. They include Almond, Apricot, Orange, Lemon, Loquat, Peach trees and Grapevines, and also Bougainvillea. Casa Alegre is situated 6km from ancient city of Silves with its castle, food market, shops, restaurants and 8km from the coast with a wide range of beautiful sandy beaches and restaurants. It is an ideal base for a relaxing holiday sitting the pool, lying on the beach, or exploring the Algarve countryside, coast, and local cuisine.

Changeover day is Sunday, departure by 10 a.m. , and arrival after 12 noon.

Notes on accommodation
The property is very suitable for families, the terrace is gated at either end, and each exit from pool to garden has a gate, which should be kept closed for childrens’ safety. Pool and surround can be lit for night time use. Travel cot, high chair and changing mat provided without extra charge.

Accessibility
From leaving the car, access to the house, all rooms inside, and to the covered terrace leading to the pool, is on one level. The second bathroom has a shower chair.
Outside
The pool and surrounding sun-terrace are walled for privacy, and have lounging chairs for sun bathing. The pool is for Casa Alegre guests only, with a built-in barbecue close by. The house is surrounded by a mature walled garden planted with trees and shrubs from the Mediterranean region. They include Almond, Apricot, Orange, Lemon, Loquat, Peach trees and Grapevines, and also Bougainvillaea, Hibiscus, Jacaranda, Jasmine, Oleander, Lantana, Plumbago, the Carob tree and Acacia.
The owner makes herself responsible for the care of two countryside (neutered) cats which are fed outside and do not come into the house. Guests are kindly requested not to allow any animals into the house.
There is a table with six chairs on the covered terrace for outdoor meals. As the terrace is gated at both ends, it is ideal for family meals with small children.
Coast/Beach
Armacao de Pera is the nearest coastal resort, which is 15 mins drive, with its beautiful beaches and golden cliffs. There are a wide range of large & small beaches to expore along the coast, which are ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Or you can taking a boat trip to explore the caves and grottos, water ski or jet ski etc
Golf
There are long sandy beaches along the coast ideal for swimming and sunbathing, and taking boat trips around the caves. Golf Silves 10 mins, Salgados 15 mins, Vilamoura (3 courses) and Penina about 30 minutes drive away, and situated 8 minutes from the luxury Amendoeira golf resort with two championship courses design by Nick Faldo and Christie O'Connor opened Sept. 2008 and now playing. Numerous countryside and clifftop walks (walking guide books and maps in sitting room). Monchique mountains, old town Faro, Portimao, old port of Lagos, Sagres, Tavira (visit the camera obscura), are all interesting and historic places within driving distance.
Travel
Faro airport is 40 kms from the villa, a journey of 35 minutes.
Car hire is essential, as the villa is in a rural location. Pre booked cars are picked up at Faro airport, and returned there at the end of the stay. Courtesy coaches from drop off point to Airport nearby. From Tunes station (12 minutes drive) excellent train service to Lisbon, Oporto, and local destinations. Fares reasonable and discounted for over 65s on production of passport.

Further details
Banks and a "Modelo" supermarket may be found in Silves. Large shopping precinct at “Algarve Shopping” near Guia. Many local restaurants in nearby villages, towns and near beach at Armacao de Pera serving local cusine and fresh fish and seafood. There is also a selection of high quality restaurants serving Mediterranean and international food within 15 mins drive.
Other leisure activities include Zoomarine with its Dolphin and sea lion & bird of prey shows. Water slide park "The Big One" is at Porches, within 10 mins, and the sand sculpture exhibition 10 mins away.
Booking notes
To make a booking we require a non refundable deposit of 30% of the tariff agreed. The balance of payment is required 6 weeks prior to arrival. Guests are strongly recommended to take out travel insurance and to take with them a European Health Insurance Card for each member of the family, which are available free of charge. Please note that not all eventualities can be covered by the EU card, which makes travel insurance a necessity.
