Changeover day
Saturday is the changeover day. Departure is before 10am, unless pre-arranged. Arrival is after 3pm.

Outside
The plot is large and is set well away from others. Outside there is a private 9m x 5m pool with terrace all around and ample sun/garden furniture with sun-chairs and wooden sun loungers. The barbecue patio provides outdoor dining with a large wooden table, bench and dining chairs. There is also an upper sun terrace, tiled, with stone table and seats.
Coast/Beach
A 5 minute walk to the beaches of Obidos lagoon will give you calm waters and long sandy beaches set around a promenade. There are half a dozen beach bars offering drinks and ample snacks, as well as a couple of great fish restaurants used by the locals. There are summertime children's facilities too.
10 mins drive away is Peniche, with some amazing laminated rock formations, a lovely old port and a water slide park. From here, you can take boat trips to the nearby islands.
Golf
Praia D'El Rey Marriott Golf Resort is approx 20 minutes drive.
Special interest holidays
Surfing - widely recognised as the surfing capital of Portugal, Peniche is 10 minutes car-drive away and offers some great surf schools too.
Surf-schools and clubs can also be found in the village of Foz do Arelho.
Horse-riding within walking distance, organised in the village of Foz do Arelho.
Travel
Nearest airport is Lisbon airport. The villa is approx 90km north and a 1 hour's journey. Car hire is recommended, although you can taxi from the airport and there is a local taxi firm with details in the villa.
Porto airport, to the north, is approximately 2.5 hours away.
Distances
Obidos, a medieval walled town is approx 12km away. It is well-worth seeing and was originally a wedding present to a Queen!
Lisbon is well worth a visit - you can make a day-trip of it by parking at the airport and taxi or bus to the port.
Coimbra to the north (probably a 2 hour drive) is a 2 centre university city, with the old parts on the hill above the new. Cascais and Sintra on the coast to the west of Lisbon are superb places to visit too.
Further details
It's approx 5km to the nearest main town of Caldas Da Rainha, for a daily market, hypermarkets, banks, clothes shopping etc.
The village of Foz itself has a bank, food and wine stores, a great butcher and various cafes and bars.
Booking notes
A 20% holding deposit will be taken at point of booking, non-refundable unless the property can be re-let for that cancelled period. The balance will be due 8 wks before holiday is to start. A security deposit of £200 is to be paid at the same time, refunded on confirmed clear check-out of property, to arrive back with rental people within 4 weeks of holiday ending. Cancellation refunds: 8 weeks or more–no cancellation charge. 4-8 weeks 50% refunded, 2-4 weeks 25% refunded.
