The town of Manta Rota has local shops and daily market in high season. In close proximity is the fabulous old town of Tavira with the towns of Cabannas and Monte Gordo only 10 mins drive West and East respectively. The excellent beach is never overcrowded and Manta Rota is ideal for young families wishing for a quiet holiday with nightlife only 10-15 mins away.

Coast/Beach
The Blue Flag beach at Manta Rota is a mere 200m walk from the house and stretches for a distance of 14km from Vila Real in the East to Cabanas in the West. At Cabanas in the summer months are activities such as jet skiing, kite surfing and pedaloes for the children.
Golf
There is certainly plenty to keep you active on your visit to the area. In the village itself you have tennis, various watersports, horesriding, fishing, and cycling.
Within a 15 minute drive you have 5 fabulous championship golf courses:
Quinta da Ria (5 minutes);
Quinta da Cima (5 minutes);
Benamor (10 minutes);
Castro Marim (15 minutes);
Monte Rei (15 minutes).
As well as countless courses within an hour's drive of Manta Rota this really is a fabulous base for that golfing getaway!

Travel

Tavira - 12km traditional Portugese town with lots cafe/bars
Cabanas - 6km, charming town and beach.
Monte Gordo - 6km, lively town with beach restaurants, casino and promenade.
Seville - 150km, traditional Spain with bullfights and flamenco.
Vilamoura - 60km, affluent and lively marina with scores of bars/restaurants.
Waterparks - Slide and Splash, Aqualand 1 hour drive.

Further details
New supermarket just opened in village. Manta Rota does have an excellent butchers and convenience store. In the summer months there is a daily market and a number of bars and cafes as well as an internet cafe and cash machine. A monthly market takes place in nearby Villa Nova de Caceia. A number of local festivals take place in the area eg. Medievil festival in Castro Marim. Tapas festival in Vila Real. Others are advertised locally.
