Casa Romana is a unique, luxurious Roman-style villa, one of just four privately-owned villas situated in a secluded hilltop position close to the village of Paderne. The villa commands spectacular views of the Atlantic coast to the south and the Monchique Hills to the west and, whilst rural in setting, it is ideally positioned for exploring both the old and new Algarve. The historic towns of Silves and Loulé as well as the more modern developments of Albufeira and Vilamoura are all within easy striking distance. Casa Romana is a two-storey villa surrounded by shrubs and colourful plants. The upper level comprises three bedrooms. A fourth bedroom and the living area are accessed by a marble staircase which leads to the lower floor. The villa is largely furnished in traditional Portuguese style. Also available is a self-contained annexe for parties exceeding eight or those wishing a little extra space. Both the house and annexe have air-conditioning.

Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with king-size bed and private south-facing balcony.
Bedrooms 2 & 3 with twin beds sharing a south-facing balcony.
Bedroom 4 with double bed and French doors leading onto pool terrace.
Annexe with double bed and private terrace.
Bathrooms: Bedrooms 1 & 2 each have a full en-suite bathroom.
Bedrooms 3 & 4 each have an en-suite shower room.
Annexe with shower. wc & washbasin.
Cloakroom with wc & washbasin.
Tennis court changing room with shower, wc & washbasin.
Kitchen: Fully-equipped modern kitchen with gas hob, electric eye-level oven, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and coffee-maker.
Utility Room: Fridge/freezer, washing machine, iron and board.
Living Rooms: The large living room has a leather suite, marble open fireplace, satellite TV, music centre, large supply of reading material and board games. The dining room has a table and chairs seating 8. French doors from both rooms open onto the pool terrace.
Other: The self-contained annexe has a sleeping/living area with fully-equipped kitchenette, shower room and private terrace.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Household linen and towels are provided but guests are requested to bring their own pool/beach towels. Maid service three times per week with bed linen changed weekly.

Notes on accommodation
The self-contained annexe is an optional extra for groups of 8 or fewer people. It is never rented to other clients as a separate unit.
Bookings from single sex groups are not accepted.

Outside
The villa is set in mature gardens. The 10m x 5m swimming pool, which has recently been renovated, is chlorine-free and is heated by solar-power in the cooler months. It is surrounded by extensive terracing with plentiful loungers and a barbecue area with outdoor dining facilities. For those wishing to escape the sun, a more shaded area with lawn, seating and water feature can be found to the side of the house. Steps lead down from the terrace to the full size tennis court which is for the sole use of Casa Romana’s guests. (NB: racquets and balls are not provided).
Other leisure facilities available include table football and table tennis.

Coast/Beach
Numerous sandy beaches, including Albufeira’s famous Fisherman’s Beach, Gale, Sao Rafael and, at Vilamoura, Praia da Falesia, are within easy reach (circa 25 mins).

Golf
Vilamoura's five championship golf courses are within 25 minutes' drive. Also less than 1hr away are several other top-quality courses including Salgados, Quinta do Lago, and Penina.
Two half sets of golf clubs are available for guests to use during their stay.

Travel
The villa is approx 40 minutes' west of Faro airport. A car is essential.
There are good motorway links to Lisbon (2½hrs) and the Spanish border (1hr).

Distances
Paderne 5 mins. Albufeira 25mins.
The nearest railway station, with direct links to Lisbon and Faro, is at Tunes, 15 mins away.

Further details
Paderne, with its historic castle, has a number of restaurants, bank, PO, chemist and shops selling the basics. AlgarveShopping at Guia provides more extensive shopping outlets for those requiring retail therapy and also offers 10-pin bowling and a cinema complex.
Nearby sightseeing opportunities include Silves, the former Moorish capital with castle and cathedral, Alte, Estoi, Monchique, Lagos and Cape St Vincent. Sporting facilities can be found all along the coast and for family/children's entertainment there are a number of water/theme parks such as ZooMarine and the Big One.

Booking notes
A non-refundable deposit of 20% of the rental is required to secure the booking, with the balance and a breakages deposit of £300 payable no later than 8 weeks before the rental commences. When the booking is made within 8 weeks of departure the rental plus breakages deposit are payable in full. The breakages deposit, less any deductions, will be refunded within 2 weeks of the end of the holiday.
