The chalet is in the middle of the village but set back from the street in its own half acre garden. There are 3 hotels with restaurants 1-3 minutes walk from the chalet. The bus to Stechelberg/Schilthorn cable car is just across the street. A baker (with small self-service shop), butcher, dairy, Internet corner and laundrette are all within 1 minute walk. On the way to the station are a Co-op shop, banks and post office. The stations to Wengen/Kleine Scheidegg (famous for the longest men's World Cup downhill ski race) and to Murren are 4 minutes walk. For the younger at heart, there is a pub/disco nearby. All flats have a telephone, Satellite TV and parking space. Winter sports include skiing, snowboarding, cross-country, winter hiking, tobogganing, skating, and tandem paragliding. Summer sports include hiking, mountain climbing, swimming, mountain biking, river rafting, fishing, windsurfing and paragliding. Interlaken is 20 minutes away where there is the new Mystery Theme Park.

Skiing
There are 45 mountain railways, cable cars, and ski lifts under the peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains. There are 125 miles of excellent ski-pistes for skiers and snow boarders of all categories with ski schools. The highest piste starts at 9748 feet and the longest run is 7 miles.

Further details
Lauterbrunnen is also easily reached by train from Zürich and Geneva airports. There are special Swiss rail concessions that can be bought in your own country. The rail service is excellent and a car is not really necessary. Most restaurants in the village serve local Swiss food (also international food). Night-life is available in Wengen and Interlaken. In summer there are local concerts of Yodeling, local brass band, traditional dancing, flag-throwing and Alpenhorn.
Winter details - The Jungfrau Skipass covers both sides of the valley and also the Grindelwald ski lifts. Under the towering mountains of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau there are 125 miles of ski runs suitable for beginners to advanced skiers. Some slopes extend to 7 miles. There is a choice of 45 mountain railways, cable cars and ski lifts. Also 60 miles of well-prepared hiking paths. There is a special pass for non-skiers.
Summer details - Lauterbrunnen is an excellent starting point for trips to the Jungfraujoch (the highest railway and restaurant in Europe) and Schilthorn. There are also many miles of well signposted hiking trails. It is 8 miles from Interlaken, the town between the lakes of Brienz and Thun. There is a swimming pool, tennis courts and mini-golf in the village. There are organised tours to the mountain huts on the Alp to see how they make cheese. The village has local lace-making and a Pottery. A James Bond breakfast is served on the top of the Schilthorn made famous by the film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'. The chalet is 8 miles from the newly opened 'Mystery Park' in Interlaken. This is a theme park to suit all ages.
Booking notes
VISA and MasterCard are accepted. A two night non-refundable deposit is required on booking. The prices include electricity, central heating, hot water, bed linen and towels. The only extra is the local tax of Sf. 2.80 per person per night (children 6-16 years Sf. 1.10).
The 2 day deposit is non-refundable, cancellation less than 30 days - 50% is due, cancellation less than 7 days - 100% is due.
