Villa Carreta takes its name from the Turkish word for the turtles which swim in the stream below our garden. Our large luxury villa is set in 500m of terraced forest land and has a private pool 10m x 5m. The panoramic views from the garden and large terrace, across the valley floor onto the mountains and the ancient Lycian ruins at Tlos, are simply stunning. This is a wonderful setting for a relaxing holiday to recharge the batteries and top up the tan. Alternatively Villa Carreta is an excellent base for a far more active holiday with key attractions such as Taurus Mountains, Saklikent Gorge and Patara Beach, all being within easy striking distance.

Notes on prices
All prices are per villa per week and are in UK Pounds. 10% deduction for 3 weeks or longer.
5% deduction for holidays starting within 6 weeks of booking.
10% reduction for holidays starting within 2 weeks of booking.
Private return transfer from Dalaman airport is £99 per party for up to 4 people and £129 per party for 5 or more people although I would recommend hiring a car from the airport and driving yourself to the villa instead.
Changeover day
You may arrive on whatever day suits you and where possible, depending on what time the next renters are due, you will be allowed to stay in the villa until the moment of your departure for the airport, no matter what time day or night.
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | Bedroom 1 with double bedroom and en-suite. Bedroom 2 with double bedroom. Above bedrooms have full length windows to take full advantage of the views, also open onto the upstairs balcony. Bedroom 3 with twin beds. |
| Bathrooms: | En-suite to bedroom 1 with shower. Bathroom 2 is off the upstairs sitting area. Bathroom 3 is downstairs off the dining area. |
| Kitchen: | The kitchen is fully equipped with a large fridge/freezer, oven, hob, microwave, toaster and kettle. There are numerous pots and pans for those of you who enjoy cooking and sampling the produce from the local markets. |
| Utility Room: | This includes a washing machine, buckets, mops, brushes, iron, ironing board and a safe. |
| Living Rooms: | The ground floor is open-plan with large glass double doors and full length windows making the most of the amazing views. The large sitting room has a double sofa bed as well as additional seating. There is a TV, DVD player and a Playstation 2. |
| Other: | An open fire place is found in the Turkish snug which also has traditional cushioned seating area. There is a large upstairs sitting area with 2 comfy rocking chairs. The panoramic views through the full-length windows here are breath-taking. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
The villa will be clean upon your arrival with a clean set of bath and hand towels and linen on the beds. There is a washing machine, ironing board and iron as well as mops and brushes etc should you need them. |
Notes on accommodation
The air conditioners switch to heating for the cooler months and extra blankets are provided for the beds. The open fireplace and the Turkish snug are also a real bonus. Dalaman airport is a 70 minute drive away from Villa Carreta where you will be settled in, whatever time day or night, by our local representative. Any questions that you have about money, phone cards, local excursions etc will be sorted out. Our local representatives will be on call, 24 hours, to help you.

Outside
The inside dining area has tables and chairs for 8 people and opens out onto a large terrace which is also furnished for 8 people should you wish to have a BBQ or eat outside. The pool area has ample sun loungers and umbrellas and there is a wooden garden bench in the shade of the olive tree perfectly positioned for the views.
Coast/Beach
Patara beach (45 min) This was the port of Xanthus and is now an important archaeological site and protected area. Patara beach is a white sand beach with dunes and has been recently voted the best beach in the world by 'The Sunday Times'. Our kids (and us) adore this beach. The waves are great fun for jumping over and you can even body-surf here. It is a huge expanse of sand, surrounded by mountains with one lovely beach bar.
Travel
Dalaman airport is 70 mins drive away. Car hire is recommended.
Distances
Kalkan 10 mins further on from Patara. This gorgeous seaside town has a beautiful bay and a wonderful old centre with winding cobbled streets and many fascinating shops selling carpets, jewellery, tiles etc. This is a perfect place to stock up on presents. Fethiye (40 mins away). This is a busy fishing town with a wonderful fish market, Turkish baths, traditional rug and kilm shops, marina with boat trips out to the islands in the bay.
Further details
Authentic Turkish village life can be experienced firsthand in Kadikoy village just 2 mins drive away. There, supplies can be purchased in the local shops or even delivered to your villa. At the traditional Turkish roadside locantas, you can watch the locals as they prepare your food - trout, BBQ meat or the wonderful vegetarian Turkish meze starters.
Salkikent Gorge - This is the second largest gorge in Europe and only 10 mins drive from our villa. There are many walking trails here of various difficulties. Alternatively you can sit in one of the traditional Turkish lounges which are suspended 0.5m above the ice-cold running waters and shaded by fig trees while eating the freshly caught trout which they serve. For the more adventurous, there is white water rafting and mud baths! A great treat for the kids is staying in one of the tree houses which you can hire for the night (£9 per person per night for dinner, bed and breakfast at current rates).
Tlos (15 mins away). This is probably the oldest city in Lycia There are the ruins of a Byzantinefortress, numerous rock-strewn tombs, a Roman stadium, amphitheatre and baths and can be seen from our garden! Just past Tlos and just 15 mins away from Villa Carreta, The Yakapark Trout Farm is a superb place to spend a hot afternoon. The many running streams that run through it under the trees, provide natural air conditioning and keep the area cool, no matter how hot the weather is. Our local Mountain Lodge bar is a 10 min drive away and does lovely food in a wonderful setting with a pool and play area for the kids.
Booking notes
A 20% non-refundable deposit is payable on booking. The balance is due 9 weeks before the first day of your holiday. A breakage deposit of £150 is required payable with the balance, 9 weeks prior to the start of the holiday. Provided there are no breakages, this will be refunded within 2 weeks of the end of your holiday to any account specified by you.

‘What a great holiday and a fantastic (and very tasteful) villa! We visited Saklikent Gorge and the boys loved the rafting and walking up the gorge. Patara Beach was also a great hit with the waves. Apart from that we were just happy to stay at the villa and potter around. Next time I would definitely like to come back for longer than a week –there was lots that we didn’t get time to do’ - Jack, Jo, Alex and Olly Wells
‘Villa Carreta gave us the most relaxing holiday we have ever had. The villa itself is huge with 3 separate sitting areas inside so there was plenty of space for our extended family to all chill out. The big garden had many different areas to ‘hide’ from the kids with my book! However my favourite spot was the wonderful pool where I spent hours gazing at the incredible views and watching the goat herders!’
